What are the talks at Solar Careers Hub Glasgow?
Solar Careers Hub Glasgow, Scotland’s first jobs fair dedicated to the fast-growing solar and battery energy storage sectors, will be held on Wednesday 25 February at the University of Strathclyde’s Technology & Innovation Centre.
Attendees will hear vital insights into the industry directly from key experts, with sessions beginning in the morning and repeated in the afternoon.
☀️Why choose solar as a career and what are my opportunities?
Gareth Simkins, Senior Communications Adviser, Solar Energy UK
10.30-10.45 and 14.30-14.45
The solar industry and battery energy storage sectors are growing at unprecedented pace - and that means 43,000+ UK jobs in solar are required to be filled by 2035 if government and industry targets are to be reached. Here is what you need to know about where the industry is at and where it's going.
☀️ Engineering a Net Zero future: Careers in Solar and Storage
Chris Clark, Director, Emtec Energy
10.50-11.05 and 14.50-15.05
Chris will outline the wide range of career opportunities within the solar and storage industry, highlighting roles for both blue-and white-collar professionals and the practical and further education pathways that can lead to a long-term career in renewable energy.
☀️ What Next? The Stars the limit - Careers from a Developer & Investor's view
Roy Amner, Business Development Director, NextEnergy Group
11.10-11.25 and 15.10-15.25
With over $4.5bn of assets under management across the NextEnergy Group and projects delivered globally, Roy will share how a career in the sector can take you from Glasgow to Chile, or from a spreadsheet to a 350MWp energy hub, demonstrating the scale, diversity and global reach of the Group.
☀️ Structural considerations for PV system designs
Jason McCabe, UK & Ireland Technical Director, Clenergy
11.30-11.45 and 16.10-16.25
Covering the key engineering principles, challenges, and best practices for designing safe, reliable, and long-lasting solar mounting systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects.
☀️Designing a Solar Array - and everything that comes after
Tom Kemsley, Scotland Manager and Director, Midsummer Energy
11.50-12.05 and 15.50-16.05
Midsummer Energy's design software, Easy-PV takes you from an idea and an address right through to getting a kit on site. This short presentation will take you through the process; designing the system, getting estimates on generation and financial payback, quoting and of course a list of equipment, where the rest of the company comes in and more.
☀️GSE IN-ROOF SYSTEM: the integrated system
Ricky Towner, UK Training Manager, GSE Intégration
12.10 – 12.30 and 15.30-15.50
The GSE IN-ROOF SYSTEM is a mounting system for integrating standard photovoltaic panels directly on the roof. It is a universal system that offers the possibility of designing all kinds of configurations, with or without roof windows. This product is the most cost-effective for renovation and new builds. Come and see how our engineers install the GSE IN-ROOF SYSTEM. You'll be able to appreciate how easy it is to install it. Of course, you will have the opportunity to ask our engineers any technical questions you may have.
☀️The Verdancy Group - Training, Upskilling and Career Pathways
Neil Barnes, Business Partnership Manager, The Verdancy Group
12.35 - 12.50 and 16.30 - 16.45
Are you interested in joining the growing solar industry? Would you like to hear about training and development opportunities?
