Solar & Storage Live 2024, NEC, Birmingham
Reflecting the government’s ambitions to generate more solar power by 2035, a solar taskforce that is chaired by Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, and Chris Hewett, Chief Executive of Solar Energy UK, has committed to delivering an updated solar roadmap within the coming months.
One key objective of the roadmap is to ensure that a skilled and properly resourced workforce is in place to scale up solar installations across the UK.
Brought to you by Solar Energy UK and MCS, the Installer Training Hub was a key feature of Solar & Storage Live in Birmingham and plays an integral part in providing the knowledge and skillsets required to work in the industry.
The hub hosted presentations, tutorials, product demonstrations, and bitesize interactive learning sessions to teach theory and practical skills.
Participating businesses were Alpha ESS, GivEnergy, KENO Energy, SolarEdge, Canadian Solar, OpenSolar, GSE Intégration, SAJ, Solarport and Sungrow. Each gave demonstrations of their equipment and installation techniques, whilst answering questions from the audience.
New for 2024 was the Solarport Ground Mount Installation Masterclass, an immersive, hands-on workshop that provided the technical knowledge required to enhance your skills or embark on a new career in solar installation in the rapidly expanding ground-mounted solar sector.
Commercial Battery Energy Storage System demonstrations were provided by GivEnergy and SolarEdge, who explained by leveraging these solutions, businesses can achieve significant energy savings, enhance their overall operational efficiency and improve their environmental footprint.
Inside the hub, the theatre sessions provided information on solar PV and battery storage MCS certification, commercial battery storage solutions, and the latest technology and tools to scale the solar industry.
The next Installer Training Hub is taking place as a feature within Solar & Storage Live, Excel, London from 2-3 April 2025, and Solar & Storage Live, NEC, Birmingham from 23-25 September 2025.
